FAQs for Christian Conciliation Services

  • Who Can Use Your Services?

Our goal is to help people resolve personal issues in a God honoring manner. We will consider accepting any case regardless of the religious convictions of the parties, provided they are willing to respect the Christian principles underlying peacemaking process.

  • What christian conciliation services do you offer?

We offer a variety of services. First, we provide Conflict Coaching and written resources to help individuals explore ways to resolve disputes personally and privately. We also provide Mediation, a process in which one or more christian conciliators meet with all the people involved in the conflict to promote reconciliation and to help them arrive at a mutually agreeable and God honoring settlement of their issues.

  • Can you describe your approach?

We believe God’s Word is sufficient to handle the issues of life. We believe that the Bible provides thorough guidance and instruction for faith and life. Therefore, we base our services on scriptural principles rather than those of secular psychology or psychiatry. Those fields are important resources, but they are not our area of expertise.

  • Can your services be used to resolve legal disputes?

Our peacemaking services may be used to resolve legal disputes but we are not providing a legal service. Our conciliators do not provide people with the kind of legal advice and advocacy they would obtain if they hired a personal attorney. Instead of representing one person against another, we work with and for all the people in a dispute to help them find a mutually satisfactory agreement. This limitation applies to all our conciliators, including any who happen to be attorneys. Therefore, if you are concerned about your legal rights, you are encouraged to consult with an independent attorney who would be willing to accompany and advise you during the peacemaking process.

  • Are you providing therapy or counseling services?

Our conciliators are not professional therapists or counselors. Thy are trained to lead you to scriptures that deal directly with the issues you are facing. We want you to seek to understand where the Bible says you are, where the Bible says you should be, and most importantly how to get there. Our conciliators are neither psychologists nor psychiatrists but have received formal training in Christian Conciliation from the Institute of Christian Conciliation.

  • What are your confidentiality policies?

Confidentiality is an important aspect of the conciliation processes, and we will carefully guard the information you entrust to us. To ensure that you are receiving consistent counsel and support, however, we need to be able to discuss your situation with your attorney, if applicable, and with appropriate leaders of your church, if you belong to or attend one. We may also need to seek guidance from other experienced counselors and peacemakers. Furthermore, we may need to divulge information to appropriate civil authorities if there is a clear indication that someone might otherwise be harmed.

  • What rules govern your process.

The cases cases we assist with range from informal to formal. For the most formal cases we follow The Rules of Procedure for Christian Conciliation mained by the Institute for Christian Conciliation. For cases that are primarily personal and are not complex, we can be more informal in our approach. Discuss your case with us to be sure.

  • How long does your process take?

The length of time for our services is variable and depends on the nature and complexity of the case. Most marital conciliation cases take roughly 2 to 4 months and end in 2 to 4 full days of intense mediation. Non-complex business or organizational disputes typically take 2 - 4 weeks and end in a half or full day of mediation. Complex organization disputes involving multiple parties or groups will be assessed on an individual basis.
